How to sell on udhaar and collect the money
Udhaar par kaise bechein aur paise kaise lein
Add a customer with an udhaar limit, put a bill in their khata, remind them on WhatsApp and record their payment.
What you'll need
- Owner or manager login to add customers
- The customer's phone number
1. Add the customer
Click Parties in the left menu, then + Add party. Enter the Full name / Shop name, set Type to Customer and add their Phone so you can remind them on WhatsApp.
Set an Udhaar limit (Rs) if you want one. The Counter will refuse an udhaar bill that takes the customer over this limit. Leave it empty for no limit.
Watch out: Customers can only be added from Parties, not from the Counter, and only by the owner or a manager. Add your regular udhaar customers before you need them.
2. Put a bill on udhaar
At the Counter, add the items as usual.
In the Pharmacy edition, choose Udhaar, search for the customer by name or phone and pick them. The whole bill goes into their khata.
In General Trade, choose Credit and pick the customer from the Customer list. If they pay part now, type it in Received; the rest goes into their khata.
Save the bill as usual. If the bill would take the customer over their udhaar limit, Barkat stops it and asks you to collect payment first. Only the owner or a manager can raise the limit, in Parties.
3. See who owes you
Click Reminders in the left menu. It lists every customer who owes you, biggest balance first, with their phone and how long since their last sale.
To see one customer's full khata, open Parties and click their name. The ledger shows every bill and payment with a running balance.
4. Remind them on WhatsApp
On Reminders, click Remind next to the customer. WhatsApp opens with a ready message:
"Assalam-o-alaikum (name), your outstanding balance at (your shop) is Rs (amount). Please settle at your earliest convenience. JazakAllah Khair."
Check it and press send. Barkat never sends messages by itself.
Tip: The Remind button needs a phone number on the customer. Add it in Parties if it says No phone.
5. Record their payment
Open Parties, click the customer, then Record payment. The Amount (Rs) is filled with their full balance; change it if they paid part. Choose how they paid and click Record payment.
In General Trade you can also enter a Discount to forgive a small leftover amount, which clears it from the balance.
Done: The payment comes off their khata, and the Reminders list updates.
