For pharmacies, medical stores and chemists
Pharmacy software for medical stores
Run your medical store with batches, expiry and udhaar fully under control.
Selling at the counter
A fast, keyboard-first billing counter. Search a medicine by name or salt, add it to the cart, take payment, and print the receipt.
Most of your day is at the counter. Barkat keeps it quick so queues stay short — no hunting for prices, no adding totals by hand.
- 1Press / to jump to search, then type the medicine name or scan the barcode
- 2Add it to the cart and adjust the quantity
- 3Pick the payment method — Cash, Card, JazzCash, Easypaisa or Udhaar
- 4Press F9 to save and print the receipt

Medicines & stock
Your full medicine list with cost, sale price and live stock — received in batches as you buy.
You always know what is in stock, what it cost, and your margin on every strip, without keeping a separate register.
- 1Open Inventory to see every medicine with its stock and margin
- 2Add a medicine once, then receive new stock as dated batches
- 3Open the product drawer for cost, sale price and supplier margin

Expiry control
Every batch carries its expiry date. Barkat sells the oldest stock first (FEFO) and warns you well before medicines expire.
Expired medicine is money thrown away — and a risk to your customers. Barkat catches it weeks ahead so you can return or move it.
- 1Enter the expiry date when you receive a batch
- 2The counter automatically picks the earliest-expiry batch first
- 3Watch the Expiry page and dashboard alerts for anything nearing expiry

Customers & udhaar
A running ledger for every customer who buys on credit, with WhatsApp reminders built in.
Udhaar is where shops quietly lose money. Barkat tracks exactly who owes what and lets you nudge them in one tap.
- 1Add a customer, or choose Udhaar at the counter
- 2Every credit sale and payment updates their balance automatically
- 3Open Parties to send a WhatsApp reminder with the amount due

Money & day book
Record expenses and see your daily cash-in and cash-out at a glance in the Day Book.
At close, you know exactly what came in, what went out, and what should be in the drawer.
- 1Log expenses like rent, salaries or utilities as they happen
- 2Open the Day Book for the day's sales, payments and expenses
- 3Match the closing cash figure against your drawer

Reports & team control
Profit and loss reports, staff accounts with roles, and an audit log of every action.
See whether you are actually making money, and know who did what — even when you are not in the shop.
- 1Open Reports for revenue, cost and net profit by day, week or month
- 2Add staff with the right role so they see only what they should
- 3Check the Audit Log to review edits and voids

Pharmacy software — common questions
- What is pharmacy software?
- Pharmacy software is a billing and inventory system built for medical stores. Beyond ordinary retail billing it tracks each medicine by batch number and expiry date, warns you before stock expires, and keeps a ledger of what every customer owes.
- Does Barkat track medicine batches and expiry dates?
- Yes. Every medicine is stocked by batch, with its own expiry date and purchase price, so the same product can sit in inventory at several batches and costs at once. The expiry screen shows what is expiring soon and what has already expired.
- What is FEFO billing?
- FEFO means First Expiry, First Out — the batch that expires soonest is sold first. Barkat's counter picks the FEFO batch automatically when you add a medicine to a bill, so old stock clears before it becomes a loss.
- Can I sell a generic substitute when a medicine is out of stock?
- Yes. Medicines are linked by salt, so when something is unavailable the counter shows you other products with the same salt that you do have in stock.
- Can I bill medicines when the internet is down?
- Yes. Install the Barkat desktop app on your shop computer and the counter keeps billing offline, syncing to your account once the connection returns.
- Does Barkat print thermal receipts?
- Yes — receipts print to a standard thermal printer with one keystroke from the counter, and A4 invoices are available for customers who need a full bill.
- Can I see my medical store's daily profit?
- Yes. Because purchase cost is stored per batch, Barkat reports true gross profit per sale, per day and per month, alongside expenses and your day book — not just total sales.
