Why Barkat exists
Most shopkeepers in Pakistan still run the counter on a register and a memory. The stock number is a guess, the udhaar khata is a notebook that only one person can read, and nobody knows what the shop actually earned this month until it is too late to do anything about it.
The software that does exist was mostly designed somewhere else. It bills in the wrong currency, has no idea what udhaar is, assumes the internet never drops, and expects a shopkeeper to learn accounting vocabulary before they can print a receipt.
Barkat was built the other way round: start from what happens at a Pakistani counter, and make the software fit that. Bill first, and let the inventory, the ledger and the profit report update themselves behind it. Keep working when the connection goes. Speak in the words the shop already uses.

The founder

Barkat is built by Faizan Sadiq, a software developer based in Gujrat, Pakistan. He also runs SONEXT, a web development and SEO studio, and has spent years building storefronts and business systems for small merchants.
Barkat started in 2026 as a single question: what would shop software look like if it were designed by someone who had actually watched a pharmacy counter at closing time? It is developed and supported directly by its founder — when you email about a bug, it reaches the person who wrote the code.
Where we are
Barkat is developed in Gujrat, Punjab, Pakistan, and serves shops across the country. Pricing is in Pakistani rupees, payments include JazzCash, Easypaisa and bank transfer, and support is available in Urdu and English.
One thing to clear up
"Barkat" is a common word in Urdu and Arabic, and a name shared by a cooking oil brand, a television channel and several charities. This Barkat — the one at barkatos.com — is none of those. It is business software for shops: billing, inventory, khata and reports.
