Barkat ("we", "our") provides shop management software for pharmacies, general trade shops, and other small businesses. This page explains what data the Barkat app and website collect and how it's used.
Account and shop data
When you create a Barkat account, we store your shop's inventory, sales, parties (customers/suppliers), expenses, and staff records. This data is scoped to your shop ("organization") and is never visible to other shops on Barkat. It's stored with Supabase, our database provider, and protected by row-level security so only your organization's authenticated staff can access it.
Camera (barcode scanning)
The Barkat Android app can use your device's camera to scan product barcodes during billing, so staff don't have to type product codes by hand. Camera frames are processed on your device to decode the barcode; no photos or video are captured, stored, or uploaded.
Push notifications
If you enable notifications, the app registers a device token with our server (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send a daily summary of your shop's activity. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings, which stops them being delivered. We also remove stored tokens when Firebase reports them as no longer valid. If you want your device's token deleted from our records, contact us using the details below.
Bluetooth (receipt printing)
The app can connect to a Bluetooth thermal receipt printer you pair with your device, to print invoices. This connection is local, device-to-printer only — receipt data is sent directly to your printer and never passes through Barkat's servers over Bluetooth, and no other data leaves your device over Bluetooth.
Website analytics and cookies
Our public website pages use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site. This sets cookies and shares standard usage data (such as pages viewed, approximate location, and device/browser type) with Google. Analytics runs only on our public marketing pages — it is deliberately disabled inside the signed-in app, so your shop's dashboard, billing and customer data are never sent to Google.
Data retention and deletion
Your shop's data is retained for as long as your account is active. To request deletion of your account and its data, contact us using the details below.
